WISDOM FOR WHEN YOU NEED A BREAK

Anyone else home with young kids and drowning under the wave of whining? I literally locked myself in my room earlier this week because I had reached my limit.

I needed help handling my emotions before being locked down together 24/7. Now, three months in, all the progress I’ve made through therapy and classes can easily go out the window if I’m not keeping myself in check.

We are all allowed to goof up. And we will.

But we can also come to the crazy party prepared with a few tools up our sleeve.

Which is why I’m excited to announce….

THE #REFRAMEYOURDAY SUMMER SUPPORT GROUP for Moms!

Details:
πŸ“… 6-week session: June 15 – July 27 in a private FB group

β€πŸ’» Weekly ZOOM calls Mondays at 8pm (PST) for a LIVE gathering (except July 13)

πŸ’ͺ🏻 Our focus will be on learning to reframe our circumstances and identity by building a growth mindset to help us manage our feelings no matter what we face.

πŸ™πŸ» We will spend time in Scripture and prayer as we lean into the solidarity found in friendship. There is power in knowing you are not alone in your struggles.

FINDING HOPE FROM SCRIPTURE

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.

Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom!

From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.

Proverbs 2:1-8 (NLT)

A PRAYER TO REFRAME BOUNDARIES AND LIMITS AS A MOM

Lord, You know my heart. You know every thought in my head. And you love me still. Some moments I’m a fun mom, with attention to spare. Other moments, I’m exhausted and have nothing left to give. Yet so much is required of me.

Some days, I feel I fall so short.

I worry about the impact my lack of interest will have on my kids. I feel guilty. I compare myself to other moms who seem to have it all together and list of things “I’m not doing well enough” gets longer and longer.

Please help me reframe my motherhood. Please give me energy to let my kids know that I love them and do want to be part of their lives in ways that are meaningful to them. But please also help me know when I’ve reached my limit, and to take a moment to walk away and get refreshed.

Give me wisdom to find the right balance for my household. Give me strength to know that taking a break does not make me a bad mom. It’s actually setting a good example to my kids (if I leave soon enough before I say or do something I regret). Then I can apologize and that’s still teaching my kids a vauluable lessson.

Help me see that what I consider failures are just learning experiences for us all. And they may turn out to be some of the most valuable lessons I can teach my kids.

Lead me in Your wisdom. Give me understanding to make wise choices. Please guard and protect my heart and mind as I find healthy boundaries and limits to be the mom you’ve designed me to be. When I’ve reached my limit, help me remember to look to you for help in navigating these rocky waves.

In Jesus name. Amen.

WORSHIP TO HELP YOU REFRAME

I asked my six year old for a recommendation on a worship song that talked about trusting in God when we need wisdom. His answer: My Lighthouse by Rend Collective. I can’t. 😍 They sang this song at VBS a few summers ago and it quickly became his favorite song of all time.

As I read the lyrics, I quickly realized, my little man already understands what it means to seek God in troubled times. To hope in God’s rescue when we face the storms. I smiled a happy mama smile as I pasted this song into this email.

I pray it brings you that same hope that God’s great love will lead us through. He will provide wisdom and peace through the storms.
