I had breakfast with a fellow MOPS Coordinator today and as I reflect on our sweet time together, I’m left with her words to me at multiple points in our conversation… “And look at you now.”

This was our first time sitting down together, but it was like we’ve been friends for years.  We each felt very comfortable going into the places of joy and of pain in our lives. If you’re just getting to know me, you’ll soon learn that I’ve spent the past several years overcoming anxiety and depression. Several years before that, I began battling many health problems including debilitating migraines and fibromyalgia. If you’ve faced mental, physical or a combination of both types of pain you know how lonely it is. How hard it is for others to understand. How ashamed you can feel about what you miss out on due to your limitations.

On the other hand, if you’ve experienced any type of healing, you know that breathe of fresh air.  You know that peace that comes from having weathered the storm. You know the strength you’ve gained from wrestling your pain.

“And look at you now!”

How life-giving it is for someone to recognize that in us!  If you are on a healing journey, I pray you have at least one person who speaks these words over you.  We may not be at the finish line yet, but friend we are so much further from where we started! Let’s take a moment to celebrate that.

Let’s take a moment and acknowledge the hard work of healing.  Let’s stand back and observe how far we’ve come and how much we’ve learned.  We will continue learning how to implement all we’ve learned throughout the various seasons of our lives, but in this moment, let’s give ourselves a high five for how far we’ve come!

If you’re just beginning your healing journey, take hope!  It is HARD WORK delving into pain, but dear one, you will never regret it.  For more encouragement during your healing season, check out my post THROUGH THE STORM. Remember, friend, you are not alone. You are loved, you are capable, you are strong.

“Just look at you now!”
